The Copa Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, framed within the European Nations Championship, started on Wednesday, March 13, at the prestigious Real Club de Sotogrande golf course.

The wind was very present on the opening day on which the English Toby Tree achieved the best marks of the day and gave a British flair around the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande.

The Spanish team result was quite satisfactory: the women finished fourth while the men's team was ranked eighth.

Patricia Sanz came second of the day with 74 strokes and was only surpassed by the English Georgia Hall with 73. Clara with 79 and Silvia Baena Bañón with 81 strokes were the other two girls who formed the Spanish Team.

The male group was led by Mario Galiano, with 77 shots, differentiated 9  hits Toby Tree, the outstanding player of the day, which totaled 68 strokes.

The championship regulations provide that each country should be represented by a team consisting of four male and one female team of three players. The classification is stable adding to the final ranking the top three individual results in the case of boys, and the two best results in the case of girls.

Definitely a very exciting day in which the goal again was to raise the attention of Sotograndre. It was a good game. We will have to wait until next March 21st  to enjoy the second day of this prestigious event.
