J80 World Sailing Cup in Sotogrande

Summer has begun in Sotogrande with competitions as vibrant as the J80 World Sailing Cup. Since last weekend the Port of urbanization has had more than fifty boats from 6 different countries that fought for victory in the Mediterranean.

During five consecutive days the boats of 8 meters had to perform 15 tests on windward-leeward in the Port of Sotogrande. A week of competition that has filled the streets of urbanization and created a great atmosphere.

The first day of this World Cup, organized by the Club Nautico Bavelle and the Port of Sotogrande, was held on Monday with three races with Middle East wind. The French were leading the opening with the brilliant performance of Courrier Junior Eric Brezellec, who occupied the first position by two seconds.

The Spaniards began the competition in prominent positions. The second place of this opening day was occupied by the sailor from Canary Islands, Rayco Taberes,  with the boat Princesa Yaiza. The fourth, fifth and sixth also stayed home. Specifically they went to Oxital, the Spaniard Jose Maria Torcida; HM Hotels Mallorcan Javier Chacartegui and Cenits Hospitals Team Marbella Juan Luis Paez and Pepequín Orbaneja.
