40th edition of the BMW International Polo tournaments Sotogrande 2011

Sotogrande will be again soon the host city of one of the most prestigious and exclusive sporting events in the world. The Santa Maria Polo Club in Sotogrande will again host this traditional polo tournament in which teams from the most diverse latitudes.

Between 27 July and 28 August some of the best polo players in the world will gather in Sotogrande to play the 40th edition of this prestigious tournament that once again sponsors the German car company BMW

An escape to the Hotel Club Marítimo de Sotogrande, located just 2 miles from the Club, is the perfect excuse to enjoy a different holiday, with maximum comfort and the opportunity to attend polo matches first level.

Once again the BMW International Polo Tournament will be a flagship world polo during the summer and one of the major events of World Polo Tour, with over 120 games, 100 players and over 1,000 horses.

For more than a month of competition, Facundo Pieres, David Stirling, Pablo MacDonough and Juan Martin Nero, among others, will show their spectacular play on the fields of Santa Maria Polo Club, which in looking forward to welcome all those who love this exciting sport.

Besides enjoying the best polo in the world, visitors can perform various leisure activities in the Village Mall. The Santa Maria Polo Club in Sotogrande is preparing its facilities for the alternative dining, shopping and the entertainment is even better than in previous editions: for this 40th tournament the Club will have a spectacular area both inside and outside the main hall, an ideal place to enjoy a wide range of leisure activities and to follow the evolution of teams on the pitches.

Moreover, as every year, the terraces located on the grounds will be frequented by a lot of famous faces following the matches. This year the event will have the area called "After Polo", a large multipurpose area where you can enjoy the charm and uniqueness of Sotogrande nights in a different place, with fashion shows, exhibitions, concerts and options for chillout.

Among the main High Handicap teams participating in this 40th BMW International Polo summer tournament include, among others, Ayala, Ahmibah, Lechuza Caracas or Ellerston. In turn, the season also includes, as always, the competition from the Middle and Lower Handicap that will each have its own headquarter. The first match that will be held is be followed by the Bronze Cup finish with the Gold Cup which is the last phase of the tournament.
